Resolution 12280 RESOLUTION NO. 12280
WHEREAS, there presently exists on that part of
the Venetian Causeway toll road, being also an arterial
road, on Belle Isle in the City of Miami Beach, irreg-
ularities in the roadway, which is of extremely low
elevation, and inadequate storm sewer facilities, causing
flooding of the roadway during rainstorms, thus rendering
the entire area dangerous and hazardous to residents and
property in the area, and to motorists and to the public
traversing said roadway; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach, in the past
several years, has requested the Dade County Commissioners
of Dade County, Florida, to appropriate the necessary
funds for the installation of adequate storm sewer facilities,
and, thereafter, to elevate the roadway to a level which
would allow adequate drainage, to repave and install new
curbs and gutters in the above described area; and
WHEREAS, said previous requests have not been
granted, but that the progressive deterioration of the
aforesaid conditions renders it imperative that the City
Council, in the interest of the safety of the public,
renew and reiterate said requests;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the County
Commissioners of Metropolitan Dade County, Florida, be and they
are hereby formally and strongly urged to allocate the
necessary funds for installation and construction of adequate
storm sewer facilities, elevation and repaving of that portion
of the Venetian Causeway toll road, being also an arterial
highway, on Belle Isle in the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
and for the installation of appropriate curbing and guttering
in said area.
BE IT FURTHER DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that certified copies
of this resolution be transmitted forthwith to the County
Manager and to the Board of County Commissioners of
Metropolitan Dade County, Florida.
