2018-30597 Resolution • RESOLUTION NO. 2018-30597 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH TO RETROACTIVELY ACCEPT DONATIONS AND SPONSORSHIPS FROM MIAMI BEACH MEDICAL GROUP, LLC, T-MOBILE USA, INC, CHICAGO BAR COMPANY, LLC, DBA RXBAR, SYSCO CORPORATION, DESTINATION BRANDS INTERNATIONAL, LLC, THE COCA-COLA COMPANY, ATLANTIC BROADBAND, OPERATION GRATITUDE, IHEARTMEDIA, INC, AND GETAROUND, INC, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $12,500, FOR THE CITY'S TENTH ANNUAL VETERANS DAY PARADE HELD ON NOVEMBER 11, 2018, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO MAKE SUCH EXPEPNDITURES OR REIMUBRSMENTS CONSISTENT WITH THE AFORSTATED EVENT AND PURPOSE. WHEREAS, on Sunday, November 11, 2018, the City of Miami Beach ("City") produced the City's tenth annual Veterans Day Parade, which celebrates the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces to defend and protect our country; and WHEREAS, the City's Veterans Day Parade draws thousands of residents and tourists to the City to enjoy great food and music and to celebrate and honor the commitment and sacrifices of our military veterans; and WHEREAS, City staff worked diligently to identify funding sources to offset the costs of producing the City's 2018 Veterans Day Parade; and WHEREAS, City staff secured partnerships, through donations and sponsorships in the total amount of $12,500, for the City's 2018 Veterans Day Parade from Miami Beach Medical Group, LLC, T-Mobile USA, Inc., Chicago Bar Company, LLC, dba RxBar, Sysco Corporation, Destination Brands International, LLC, The Coca-Cola Company, Atlantic Broadband, Operation Gratitude, iHeartMedia, Inc., and Getaround, Inc.; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends that the City Commission retroactively approve and authorize the City's acceptance of the aforestated donations and sponsorships and authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to make any necessary reimbursements and/or expenditures of the aforestated donations and sponsorships in furtherance of, and consistent with, the aforestated event and purpose. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby approve and authorize the City of Miami Beach to retroactively accept donations and sponsorships from Miami Beach Medical Group, LLC, T-Mobile USA, Inc., Chicago Bar Company, LLC, dba RxBar, Sysco Corporation, Destination Brands International, LLC, The Coca-Cola Company, Atlantic Broadband, Operation Gratitude, iHeartMedia, Inc., and Getaround, Inc., in the total amount of$12,500, for the City's Annual Veterans Day Parade held on November 11, 2018, and authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to make such expenditures or reimbursements consistent with the aforstated event and purpose. RECOMMENDATION Adopt the resolution. ANALYSIS On November 11, 2018, the City of Miami Beach produced the City's tenth annual Veterans Day Parade, which celebrates the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces to defend and protect our country. The City's Veterans Day Parade draws thousands of residents and tourists to the City to enjoy to celebrate and honor the commitment and sacrifices of our veterans. The event is open to the general public at no charge. Marketing efforts for this event includes, but is not limited to PSAs, digital and printed ads. The media plans included news and local programming coverage, including MB77, the Miami Beach government channel, City of Miami Beach e-briefs, as well as television, and social media. The City secured partnerships, through donations and sponsorships from Miami Beach Medical Group, LLC, T-Mobile USA, Inc., Chicago Bar Company, LLC, dba RxBar, Sysco Corporation, Destination Brands International, LLC, The Coca-Cola Company, Atlantic Broadband, Operation Gratitude, iHeartMedia, Inc., and Getaround, Inc., in the total amount of$12,500, for the City's 2018 Veterans Day Parade.
