Resolution 12297 RESOLUTION NO. 12297 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach deems it to be in the best interest of the City of Miami Beach, its citizens and residents, that the City enter into a contract with MISS UNIVERSE, INC. , a California corporation, for the conduct of beauty contests and the selection of "MISS U. S. A. " and "MISS UNIVERSE", in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, during the periods May 18th, 1968 to May 25, 1968 for "MISS U. S. A. ", and July 4th, 1968 to July 16, 1968, for "MISS UNIVERSE, in either or both the Miami Beach Auditorium and Miami Beach Exhibition Hall, with the terms and conditions of which contract the City Council is familiar; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the City Clerk and Finance Director be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute the said contract in the name of and on behalf of said City, provided, however, that said contract be first amended by adding the following addendum to paragraph 6 of said contract: "It is mutually agreed by and between the parties hereto that, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in paragraph 6 of this agreement, in the event that Columbia Broadcasting System fails to pay to the CITY on or before July 1, 1968, the sum of $15, 000.00 as its portion of the consideration to be paid by the CITY to PAGEANT, the payment of $30, 000.00 required to be made by the CITY on said July 1, 1968 shall be reduced, pro tanto, to the sum of $15, 000.00 in lieu of the said sum of $30, 000.00. " and that, thereafter, the disbursing officers of the City be and they are hereby authorized and directed to disburse the moneys required by the said contract and addendum thereto from funds of the City available for such purpose.
