RESOLUTIO N NO. 12308
WHEREAS, JACKIE GLEASON has added greatly to the fame and luster of
Miami Beach by originating his network television show from our City for the
past four years; and
WHEREAS, in the course of these weekly telecasts, JACKIE GLEASON con-
sistently lavishes praise upon Miami Beach . . . extolling its climate,
facilities and attractions and displaying sincere enthusiam and affection
for our City and its people; and
WHEREAS, through his efforts, unprecedented national publicity has been
focused on Miami Beach, resulting in increased tourism and intensified
interest in our City as a potential television center of major importance;
and
WHEREAS, our economy has been stimulated by the presence of the talented
writers, technicians and performers employed by the Gleason organization. . .
many of whom reside in our community and play an active role in its affairs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Miami Beach
pay fitting tribute to JACKIE GLEASON and urge him to return to Miami Beach
next season for another series of telecasts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution become part of the permanent
records of the City of Miami Beach, and a copy be presented to JACKIE GLEASON
as a tangible token of our deep gratitude and affection.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 3RD DAY OF JANUARY, 1968.
