Resolution 12320 RESOLUTION NO. 12320
WHEREAS, the National Football League, represented
by the Green Bay Packers, and the American Football League,
represented by the Oakland Raiders, staged their second
annual Super Bowl Game for the football championship of
the world in the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida, on Sunday,
January 14, 1968; and
WHEREAS, it was the consensus of everyone who
witnessed this thrilling spectacle that it was one of the
greatest professional league football games ever played
to an overflowing stadium in the fair City of Miami, Florida;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that this resolution
is a formal acknowledgment of the great delight and honor
it was to have the illustrious Super Bowl Game held in the
City of Miami, in the State of Florida.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Council, on behalf
of itself and the residents of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, sincerely and earnestly urges the American Football
League and the National Football League to hold their future
annual Super Bowl Games in the Orange Bowl, in the City of
Miami, State of Florida, as this brilliant event would
not only afford great delight and pleasure to the City and
State of Florida and to the members of the City Council of
the City of Miami Beach, but the City Council would deem it
a great honor, as well, to be so favored.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that certified copies of this
resolution be transmitted to the appropriate officials of
the National Football League and the American Football
League, and carry with it the thanks and appreciation to
the said Leagues of the members of the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, for the spectacular event so staged.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 17th day of January, 1968.
