A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF
FEBRUARY 19, 1968 AS COLUMBIAN SQUIRES
OF SAINT MARTIN DE PORRES CIRCLE 1554
WEEK.
WHEREAS, the year 1968 commemorates the Eighty-Sixth
Anniversary of the founding of the Knights of Columbus; and
WHEREAS, COLUMBIAN SQUIRES is a youth organization of
the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS; and
WHEREAS, SAINT MARTIN DE PORRES CIRCLE 1554 is the
local Miami Beach, Florida chapter of said COLUMBIAN SQUIRES;
and
WHEREAS, said SAINT MARTIN DE PORRES CIRCLE 1554 of
the COLUMBIAN SQUIRES in Miami Beach, Florida exemplifies,
to the highest degree, all of the noble and fine ideals which
have rendered our nation: an inspiration to the world; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach deems itself fortunate
to have in its midst, as a local chapter, SAINT MARTIN DE
PORRES CIRCLE 1554, as an exemplar of the finest attributes
and characteristics of its national organization;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the week of February
19, 1968 be and the same is hereby officially proclaimed as
COLUMBIAN SQUIRES WEEK in the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
and all citizens and residents of the community are hereby
invited and called upon to laud and to encourage the aims and
objectives of SAINT MARTIN DE PORRES CIRCLE 1554 and their
achievement of the qualities and attributes which lend themselves
to the improvement of the community and the youth thereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that all citizens and residents of
the City of Miami Beach are hereby invited and called upon
to take cognizance of this resolution proclaiming said week
to be COLUMBIAN SQUIRES WEEK and to lend their best efforts,
so far as possible, to aid, assist and encourage the said
SAINT MARTIN DE PORRES CIRCLE 1554 to make said COLUMBIAN
SQUIRES WEEK a most succesful annal in the pages of its
illustrious history.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Clerk and Finance Director
of said City be and she is hereby authorized and directed to
transmit certified copies of this resolution to MR. THOMAS
MIDDLETON, Chief Counselor, and other appropriate officials
of SAINT MARTIN DE PORRES CIRCLE 1554, of the COLUMBIA` SQUIRES.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 21st day of February, 1968.
