A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING AND COMMEM-
ORATING THE EIGHTY-SIXTH ANNIVERSARY
OF THE FOUNDING OF THE KNIGHTS OF
COLUMBUS.
. WHEREAS, Friday, March 29, 1968 marks the Eighty-Sixth
Anniversary of the founding of the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS, a
fraternal benefit society of Catholic men, first chartered
by the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut; and
WHEREAS, the Society now has more than one million
members in the United States, Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico,and the
Philippine Islands; and
WHEREAS, a primary purpose of the Society is to promote
and conduct educational, charitable, religious, social and
patriotic activites; and
WHEREAS, the Society makes numerous contributions to
education and establishes scholarships at many colleges and
academies;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it does, in its behalf
and in behalf of the citizens and residents of this community,
extend its congratulations and heartiest good wishes to all
of the vast membership of the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS on the occasion
of the Eighty-Sixth Anniversary of the Society' s founding.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Clerk and Finance
Director of said City be and she is hereby authorized and
directed to transmit duly certified copies of this resolution
to the appropriate national, state and local offices of the
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS.
