Resolution 12367 RESOLUTION NO. 12367
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, at its regular meeting on February 21, 1968, duly adopted
Resolution No. 12360, pertaining to the landscaping and beautifi-
cation of the Julia Tuttle Causeway, and
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Miami Beach
is now informed that the said landscaping will be effected at
the cost and expense of the Federal Government, under the
supervision of the State Road Department of Florida, and
WHEREAS the City Council is also now advised that the
said sprinkler and irrigation system will be installed in and on
the approaches and exits to said Causeway within the corporate
limits of the City of Miami Beach, as well as westerly along the
length of said Causeway, and
WHEREAS the City of Miami Beach has been requested,
under said landscaping and beautification program, to agree to
furnish maintenance and irrigation for said landscaped area
eastward from the west bridge of said Causeway at an estimated
annual cost of $38, 000, and
WHEREAS the City Manager of the City of Miami Beach
has recommended the hereinabove described program for the
landscaping and beautification of the said Causeway, and
WHEREAS the City Council has found and determined that
the assumption and performance of such obligation is to the best
interest of the City of Miami Beach, its residents and citizens,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the said program for the
beautification and landscaping of the Julia Tuttle Causeway as
recommended by the said City Manager be, and the same is hereby
approved, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 12360,
insofar as the same is in conflict herewith, be and the same is
hereby rescinded;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City
Clerk and Finance Director be, and they are hereby authorized and
directed to execute and deliver , for and in the name of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, a formal agreement by and between the
State Road Department of Florida, Metropolitan Dade County, and
the City of Miami Beach, Florida, setting forth and embodying said
program for the beautification and landscaping of the Julia Tuttle
Causeway in accordance with the said recommendation of the City
Manager of the City of Miami Beach, and that the proper finance and
disbursing officials of the City be and they are hereby authorized
to expend and disburse the funds payable under said agreement.
