Resolution 12459 RESOLUTION NO. 12459
WHEREAS the Honorable MALVIN ENGLANDER has been a
member of the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
continuously since June 7, 1961, and
WHEREAS this City Council did, on June 7, 1967, duly
elect the said MALVIN ENGLANDER to the office of Vice-Mayor
of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, and he thereupon held said
office until his resignation on May 15, 1968, and
WHEREAS his tenure of office as Vice-Mayor, as well as
that of his fellow councilmen, coincided and was contemporaneous
with a vital chapter in the history of the community and of its
citizens when problems of the utmost gravity confronted the
City Council, and the determination of which was fraught with immense
consequence for the future well-being of the community, and
WHEREAS, when his duties as Vice-Mayor called him to
the chair of the presiding office of the City Council, his
spirit of imperturbable equanimity evoked the atmosphere and
dispassionate deliberation imperative to the effective
councilmanic determination of issues of overwhelming concern
to the citizens of the community, and
WHEREAS the said Honorable MALVIN ENGLANDER,
particularly as Vice-Mayor, unfailingly manifested a temperament
notably devoid of trepidity, and his tenure of office was
characterized by a judicial fairness which transformed the
crucible of acrimonious debate into a pervasive union of
compassion and fraternal understanding, and
WHEREAS the aura of his magnanimity dispelled the
vexations which afflict the spirit in times of stress, and
WHEREAS the profound depths of his Solomonian wisdom
has been of inestimable value to his colleagues,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, that it desires to express, at the
time of its reluctant acceptance of the resignation of the
Honorable MALVIN ENGLANDER, as Vice-Mayor, its sincere and abiding
appreciation of his unexcelled qualities of fidelity and the
keen perception of fairness in the performance of duties which
he displayed as Vice-Mayor of the City of Miami Beach.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that an appropriate copy of
this Resolution be presented to said Honorable MALVIN ENGLANDER.
