Morales, City Manager DATE: November 30, 2018 SUBJECT: Budget Advisory Committee Motio LETTER TO COMMISSION The Budget Advisory Committee would like you to be aware of the attached motion regarding recommendations for the maintenance of the City's capital assets, approved at their November 13, 2018, committee meeting. The objective of the recommendation is to allow the City to fully assess its current and future capital maintenance needs, with a goal towards funding these expenditures within the Operating Budget, and ensuring that funding is available to maintain assets at an acceptable standard. Attachment JLM/JW~ City of Miami Beach Budget Advisory Committee Meeting of November 13 2018 Members Present: Marc Gidney, Brian Harris, Susan Rosenthal, Ron Starkman, Krista Yoder- Latortue, Steve Zuckerman Members Absent: Jonathan Beloff and Carl Linder-VIA Phone Motion made by Marc Gidney Motion seconded by Steve Zuckerman Motion Text: The Budget Advisory Committee recommends that the City complete a facility condition assessment for all of its assets such as buildings, roads, sidewalks, and vehicles and that a determination be made of the annual amount that should be budgeted each year to ensure that sufficient funding is available to maintain the assets at an acceptable standard. One of the objectives would be to eliminate the frequency of emergency funding requests for repair and replacement of capital assets. The Budget Advisory Committee urges the Mayor and Commission to support the above recommendation. Motion Passage: Votes 6-0
