RESOLUTION NO. 11850
A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING AND DEFINING SOUTH SHORE
GENERAL NEIGHBORHOOD RENEWAL PLAN AREA, AND RE-
QUESTING THE METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY COMMISSION
TO COOPERATE WITH THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH IN THE
PREPARATION OF AN APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL FINANCIAL
ASSISTANCE IN THE PLANNING OF SAID SOUTH SHORE
GENERAL NEIGHBORHOOD RENEWAL PLAN AREA
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Development Commission was created. by resolution
of the Miami Beach City Council to study conditions and. prepare a Development
Plan for the City of Miami Beach; and.
WHEREAS, the Development Plan recommends the preparation of a General
Neighborhood. Renewal Plan Application for planning advance funds to under-
take preparation of a General Neighborhood. Renewal Plan for that portion
of Miami Beach generally bordered. by Biscayne Bay, Government Cut Channel,
Atlantic Ocean and. 8th Street between the Bay and. Collins Avenue , then south
on Collins Avenue to 5th Street and. along 5th Street to the Ocean; and.
WHEREAS, in our opinion, said. General Neighborhood, Renewal Plan area will
qualify for planning advance funds under Title 1 of the Housing Act of 19 +9
as amended.;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1 . The area of Miami Beach generally bounded. by:
Biscayne Bay on the west;
Atlantic Ocean on the east ;
Government Cut Channel on the south;
8th Street between the Bay and. Collins Avenue and.
5th Street between Collins Avenue and. the Ocean on the north
is hereby designated. as the South Shore General Neighborhood. Renewal Plan
Area.
Section 2. The City Council hereby requests the Board. of Commissioners
of Metropolitan Dade County to direct their Urban Renewal Agency to
cooperate with the City of Miami Beach in the preparation of statistical
materials, maps and. other preliminary requisite data essential to the
preparation of an application for federal financial assistance in the
preparation of the South Shore General Neighborhood. Renewal Plan.
