A PROCLAMATION COMMEMORATING THE 50th ANNIVERSARY
OF THE NAVAL AIR RESERVE
WHEREAS , many of the citizens of Miami Beach, Florida,
together with thousands of other dedicated Americans, are members
of the Naval Air Reserve and devote their time as Weekend Warriors
to Flight Training and the maintenance of their aviation skills as
an important part of our National Defense Program, and
WHEREAS, the Weekend Warriors of the Naval Air Reserve have
made outstanding contributions to the defense of our country during
World Wars I and II, the Korean Conflict, Cuba and Berlin, and are
currently supporting the Viet-Nam effort by volunteer missions to
Southeast Asia, and
1 WHEREAS, the Secretary of the Navy has designated 1966 as
the 50th Anniversary of the Naval Air Reserve.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, on behalf of the citizens of Miami
Beach, Florida, that it hereby proclaims this day NAVAL AIR
RESERVE DAY in Miami Beach, Florida, and through this official
Proclamation salutes the Naval Air Reserve for its heroic and
patriotic endeavors during its Fifty Golden Years of service to
our Nation.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 20th day of July, 1966.
