A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE INCORPORATION OF
THE SOUTH SHORE AREA OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH INTO A NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAM AND APPROVING FIRST YEAR ACTIVITIES
FOR SAID PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 12177, the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach delineated the area to be known as the South
Shore Feasibility Survey Area and declared said Area a slum• or
blighted area and further declared that rehabilitation, conser-
vation or redevelopment of said area is necessary and that
redevelopment is to be for predominantly residential re-use; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Dade County Department of Housing
and Urban Development, in cooperation with the City of Miami
Beach, has caused to be prepared the necessary elements of a
Feasibility Survey for the South Shore Area (Fla. R-20 F.S.);
and
WHEREAS, the above-mentioned elements of the Feasibility
Survey and a proposed program of first year activities has
been reviewed and studied by the City Council of the City of
Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, as a result of said review and study by the said
City Council, certain conclusions were reached;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the area of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, which is bounded as follows:
Biscayne Bay on the west;
Atlantic Ocean on the east;
Government Cut on the south;
8th Street between Biscayne Bay
and Collins Avenue; and
5th Street between Collins Avenue
and the Atlantic Ocean on the
north;
and designated as the South Shore Feasibility Survey Area be
incorporated as part of a Neighborhood Development Program for
Metropolitan Dade County and be included in the Metropolitan
Dade County Urban Renewal Agency's application for a Neigh-
borhood Development Program for 1969.
SECTION 11: That the first year's activities for the
South Shore Feasibility Area, as outlined and proposed by the
i-letropolitan Dade County Urban Renewal Agency, under the
Neighborhood Development Program, are approved.
