Resolution 12607 RESOLUTION NO. 12607
WHEREAS, JOHN and JOHANNA BASS have offered to
donate and to loan, to the City of Miami Beach, for
exhibition at The Bass Museum of Art, additional objects
of art, the description of which are set forth in full in
those certain letters dated January 3, 1968, addressed to
the City Manager of the City of Miami Beach, referring to
donations to be made; dated December 17 , 1968, addressed
to the Mayor of the City of Miami Beach, with reference to
the loan of additional objects of art; and dated January
2, 1969, addressed to the Mayor, referring to additional
donation to be made to The Bass Museum of Art, all from
JOHN and JOHANNA BASS; and
WHEREAS, the said offers are made pursuant to
the provisions of that certain agreement dated July 8, 1963,
by and between JOHN and JOHANNA BASS and the City of Miami
Beach, the pertinent portion of which reads as follows :
"13. BASS shall at all times hereafter
have the express privilege of
making further and subsequent
donations or loans of additional
art works to the Museum which, if
and when accepted by the CITY (which
expressly reserves the right of
acceptance or rejection) shall be
added to and exhibited in the Museum. "
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, deems that the acceptance of said offers
will result in an immeasurable contribution to the cultural
life of the community and its visitors;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the said
offers of the said JOHN and JOHANNA BASS be and the same
are hereby formally accepted, in accordance with the terms
and provisions of said offer and said agreement, hereinabove
referred to.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it does hereby
formally express, for itself, and on behalf of its citizens,
residents and visitors, a warm and abiding sense of
appreciation for the continuing manifestations of philanthropy
on the part of the said JOHN and JOHANNA BASS, with resultant
enhancement to the cultural life of the community.
