SUBJECT: 2018 SOUTH BEACH INTERNATIONAL AMATEUR
The Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce that the 8th Annual South
Beach International Amateur (SBIA) golf tournament will be held at the Miami Beach and
Normandy Shores golf clubs from Monday, December 17th through Saturday, December
22nd.
Over the years, this tournament has garnered an abundance of praise and its ascension
to the top of amateur golf rankings is unprecedented. According to Scratch Players World
Amateur Ranking (SPWAR) and R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking, the SBIA ranks as the
#5 amateur golf tournament in the world. The average age of the other "Top
4" amateur tournaments -US Amateur, British Amateur, Western Amateur, and NCAA
Division 1 Championship -average 118 years in existence.
Ranging from ages 14 to 62, this year's SBIA will feature 210 players. Of these players,
166 rank in the top 1 ,000 worldwide, including 40 of the world's top junior golfers, and 91
are international competitors who will represent 30 countries on the field. This is the largest
international field in the United States, and the second largest in the world.
In light of the tournament, Miami Beach Golf Club (MBGC) and Normandy Shores Golf
Club (NSGC) will be open for limited hours of public play beginning Monday, December
17th. MBGC will return to normal hours of operation on Sunday, December 23rd and NSGC
will return to normal hours of operation on Friday, December 21st. Please see below for
the modified schedule throughout these dates:

The City's golf management provider has arranged for members to play at the Miami
Shores Country Club that Wednesday and Thursday, with preferred tee times and special
rates. Members can make reservations up to 10 days in advance by contacting the Miami
Shores pro shop at 305-795-2366 and identifying themselves as a member of either of the
City's respective golf clubs.
