I-395 ENHANCEMENTS/PROPOSED FEATURES UNDER I-395 TURNING NIGHT INTO DAY 14 •Limits: NW 8 Street to NW 29 Street •Pavement replacement will enhance rideability •Extension of auxiliary lane from NW 17 Street to NW 29 Street will improve the flow of traffic on the widened eastbound SR 83 6 and westbound I-395 ramps to northbound I-95 •New connector ramp from southbound I-95 to westbound SR 836 will enhance the flow of traffic and reduce weaving movements I-95 ENHANCEMENTS N N W 1 7 S t N W 2 9 S t * This schedule does not reflect days added to the contract for holidays, weather days or special events CONSTRUCTION Project is a Design-Build – Design plans underway Preliminary construction activities have begun with major construction anticipated to begin March/April 2019 Construction will be done in phases to minimize construction impacts to the public Vibration monitoring equipment will be utilized during drilled shaft/pile driving operations 15 16 CONSTRUCTION MILESTONES N Improve operations on NB I-95 by extending auxiliary lane Open Communal Areas under I-395/Complete Project MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC (MOT)/HOURS I-395 SPECIFIC Mainline Nightly Closures • 10 pm to 5:30 am Sunday thru Thursday • 1 am to 7 am Saturday and Sunday SR 836 SPECIFIC Mainline Nightly Closures • 8 pm to 5:30 am Sunday thru Thursday • 8:30 pm to 9 am Friday • 8:30 pm to 11 am Saturday I-95 SPECIFIC Mainline Nightly Closures • 9 pm to 5:30 am Sunday thru Thursday RAMPS​ • 10 pm to 6:30 am Sunday thru Thursday​ • 11 pm to 7 am Friday and Saturday​ SPECIAL NOTES: •Special events will be taken into account when scheduling closures •Hours noted above are for single lane closures, multi-lane closure will occur later •Weekend lane closures will be permitted on I-95 from 11 p.m. on Friday to 5:30 a.m. on Monday •The contract documents allows for weekend closures on certain ramps 17 I-395 maintenance of traffic and schedule under review. Initial bridge foundation work on I-395 will begin in March/April and will mainly be done outside of I-395 mainline travel lanes within FDOT ROW. Open temporary, single lane westbound I-395 ramp to northbound I-95 in the summer of 2019 to construct new ramp (estimated duration 18-20 months). Closures on mainline I-395 to be done during off peak hours. Team will coordinate with City Communications, Public Works, Transportation, CIP and other Departments as needed. Portable message signs to be placed well ahead of closures to provide advanced notification. Message signs will be placed within City limits along Alton Road and 5 Street. 18 MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC - I-395 SPECIFIC •Provide drivers with real-time travel information; •Encourage motorists to take alternate routes; •Clear incidents more quickly, thereby reducing secondary incidents; and •Make work zones safer for highway workers and motorists.
