A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT
WITH HAZEN-TRANE SERVICE AGENCY FOR PREVENTATIVE
MAINTENANCE SERVICE OR INSPECTION SERVICE TO
CENTRIFUGAL AIR CONDITIONING UNITS LOCATED IN
THE CITY' OF MIAMI BEACH CONVENTION CENTER COMPLEX
FOR A FIVE-YEAR PERIOD.
WHEREAS, on February 9 , 1976 , after due notice, bids were
opened for the providing of Preventative Maintenance Service or
Inspection Service to the centrifugal air conditioning units
located in the City of Miami Beach Convention Center Complex for a
five-year period, as set forth in Invitation to Bid No. 24-76, and
WHEREAS, on March 3., 1976, the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach determined that HAZEN-TRANE SERVICE AGENCY, of Coral
Gables, Florida, was the successful bidder for providing a full
Preventative Maintenance Service Contract for the Trane Units as
listed in the Specifications, as hereinabove mentioned, and
WHEREAS, an appropriate contract has been prepared between
the City of Miami Beach and said Hazen-Trane Service Agency, which
provides that said Hazen-Trane Service Agency shall provide a full
Preventative Maintenance Service Contract for the Trane Units listed
in the Specifications, located in the City of Miami Beach Convention
Center Complex, at a total lump sum amount of $19,434 . 00 per year,
as set forth in the proposal and addendum to the proposal of said
Hazen-Trane Service Agency, to be paid by the City of Miami Beach
in accordance with the Specifications therefor, as amended, a copy
of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, along with the
notice calling for proposals and the proposal submitted by said
Hazen-Trane Service Agency, copies of which are also attached hereto
and made a part hereof, and
WHEREAS, the proposal of Hazen-Trane Service Agency requires
that any significant problems existing in the machines found on a
pre-contract inspection would have to be corrected prior to their
accepting the contract, and
WHEREAS, said Hazen-Trane Service Agency has inspected the
units and advised the City of Miami Beach that a bearing must be
replaced on one of the units and an 0-ring seal on another which is
leaking must be repaired, which repairs will cost $3,000 . 00 , and
WHEREAS, the inclusion of this repair expense with the
first year 's contract price quoted by said Hazen-Trane Service Agency .
increases the cost to $22,434 . 00, which does not change their position
as low bidder; and
WHEREAS , the City Attorney has approved said contract as
to form, and the City Manager has recommended that the City Council
enter into same,. and .
WHEREAS , the City Council deems it to be in the best
interests of said City and its residents to enter into said contract, •
the provisions of said contract being familiar to said City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the City Clerk
be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute said

contract in the name of and on behalf of the City of Miami Beach,
and the financial officers of the City be and they are hereby
authorized and directed to disburse the monies required by the
terms of said contract from funds of the City available for such
purpose.
