Resolution 76-15048 RESOLUTION NO. 76-15048 A RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT AND AUTHORIZ- ING EXECUTION OF SAID AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AND THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI, DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING, FOR A STRUCTURAL SURVEY OF BUILDINGS, SO AS TO COMPLETE THE FISCAL YEAR 1975 - 1976 , 701 COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. WHEREAS, in order to complete the Fiscal Year 1975 - 1976 , 701 Comprehensive Planning Assistance Program, the City of Miami Beach desires to undertake a structural survey of all build- ings located in the City of Miami Beach, from Government Cut to 41st Street, including all the Islands, and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach desires to utilize the services of students who are qualified by course work at the University of Miami, in the Department of Civil Engineering, to conduct the survey and interviews, at a total cost of $12 ,500, and WHEREAS, on May 19 , 1976 , the City Council of the City of Miami .Beach held a public hearing on said proposed agreement, and at the conclusion of said hearing, said City Council, being familiar with the provisions thereof, approved said agreement and authorized the execution thereof, a copy of said agreement being attached hereto and made a part hereof, and WHEREAS, the City Attorney has approved the said agree- ment as to form, and the City Manager has recommended that the City Council enter into the same; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute said agreement in the name of and on behalf of the City. of Miami Beach, and the disbursing officers of the City be and they are hereby authorized and directed to disburse the monies required by the terms of said agreement from funds available for such purpose. 'each y date _•layor • 1 SCOPE OF CONTRACT This contract is between the University of Miami (Deportment of Civil Engineering) and the City of Miami Beach (Department of Planning) in which the University is to provide students to conduct a structural a survey of buildings, under the supervision of the City of Miami Beach, The University's primary responsibility is to select the students and to handle the payroll , in accordance with work-time performance as certified by the City of Miami Beach, DATES The starting date is to be approximately May 19, and the ending date is June 30, 1976. This contract may be renewed by agreement of both parties after June 30, 1976, to complete the entire City of Miami Coach, CONTRACT SUM The total amount of money involved is $12,500. This includes 15% overhead for the University. Students are to be compensated as follows: $40hr with a maximum work week of 4:0 hours. Students will be paid for preliminary orientation period. Students enrolled during this period will be paid on the student payroll . Students not enrolled will be paid on the employee payroll and 14,52% will be paid to the University as fringe benefits for these cmpicacs, METHOD OF PAYMENT The City of Miami Beach will make payments in three installements. A sum of $4, 100, to cover 1/3 of the initial expenses; $4,200, when 2/3rds of the services have been completed; and a final payment at the completion of the contract. Such sum l l be used for student compensation, payroll charges and overhead. The City will furnish payroll data to the University at the end of May, June and a final payroll at the completion of all the structural survey .t:ork. City funds have been budgeted to cover the 701 program costs for the current year, SUPERVISION AND ASSIGNMENT The City of Miami Beach is to make all assignments to the students and is to supervise their work, LOCATION OF WORK Students are to conduct the structural survey on buildings located in the City of Miami Beach, from Government Cut to 41st Street. - - - - 1 ( 2 ) 1 BUDGET Principal Investigator Dr. Murray I .
