A RESOLUTION APPLYING FOR A FEDERAL GRANT FROM
THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND
URBAN DEVELOPMENT PURSUANT TO ITS SECTION 701 '
PROGRAM FOR URBAN PLANNING.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach, Florida, a Florida munic-
ipal corporation, desires to initiate and to execute a Planning and
Management Study Program under the provisions of Section 701 of the
Housing Act of 1954, as amended, the same being otherwise denominated
as a "Section 701 Program" , and
WHEREAS, provision is made in said Act for assistance from
the United States of America in defraying the, cost of said project,
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, has estimated that the cost of said project is $52,500 , and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
' Florida, has appropriated the sum of $17 , 500 to be utilized for said
purpose, on the basis of a two-thirds participation by the Federal
Government in the cost of said project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City of Miami Beach, a •
Florida municipal corporation, does hereby apply to the United States
of America, for a Grant in the sum of $35 , 000 by way of assistance in
initiating and executing a Section 701 Program for Urban Planning,
under the Urban Planning Assistance Program of the United States
Department of Housing and Urban Development, under the provisions of
Sections 701 and 703 of the Housing Act of 1954 , as amended, to aid
in defraying the cost of said project, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Manager of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, be and he is hereby authorized, directed and empower-
ed to represent, for' and on behalf of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, that the City of Miami Beach has, or will have available
when needed, sufficient funds to defray, with the requested Grant of
$35 , 000 , the cost of said project; and that the said City Manager be
and he is hereby authorized, directed and empowered to submit in
support of this application all necessary or helpful data and infor-
mation in supportof this application; and that said City Manager be
and he is hereby authorized, directed and empowered to file this
application for and on behalf of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
and to act as the duly authorized representative of the City of Miami
Beach in connection with all matters pertaining to this application,
and any Grant contract that may be executed pursuant hereto.
