A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH ADVISING METROPOLITAN
DADE COUNTY OF ITS CONTINUING NEGLECT OF
ITS DUTY TO MAINTAIN PROPERLY THE BEACHES
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AND DEMANDING
IMMEDIATE CORRECTION OF SUCH DEFAULTS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF •
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the attention of Metropolitan
Dade County be again directed to the continuing neglect and
violation of its duty to maintain the ocean beaches within
the City of Miami Beach in a reasonable and proper manner.
That since the assumption of said duty by Metropolitan Dade
County on October 1, 1966, there has been a continuous and
unending series of complaints by the citizens, residents
and taxpayers of the City of Miami Beach as well as by
visitors and tourists seeking to avail themselves of the
benefits and privileges of said beaches, as to the deplor-
able condition of the beaches within the City. That not-
withstanding said complaints, Metropolitan Dade County
continues to neglect its duty in this regard. That the
deplorable conditions existing are particularly magnified •
and intensified in that area of the beaches immediately
north of Government Cut where the rock problem continues to
pose a condition not only of unsightliness, but also one of
extreme hazard and danger to all persons using said beach.
That it is inconceivable to the citizens and taxpayers of
the City of Miami Beach who are paying exorbitant taxes to
Metropolitan Dade County should be the objects of continuing
gross neglect, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that this deplorable situation •
be again called to the attention of Metropolitan Dade
County with the demand that the latter' s duties, obligations
and responsibilities to maintain the beaches within the
City of Miami Beach in a reasonable and proper manner be
fulfilled and performed promptly and without further delay.
