A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CONDEMNATION PROCEEDINGS
TO ACQUIRE BELCHER OIL COMPANY PROPERTY FOR THE
PURPOSE OF RELOCATING SANITATION DEPARTMENT AND
MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE FACILITIES, IN CONNECTION
WITH MIAMI BEACH REDEVELOPMENT PLANS AND THE NEW
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH MARINA.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, finds and deems it necessary for the welfare of said City
and its inhabitants thereof to acquire for the purpose of relocating
and thereafter maintaining, the various Sanitation Department,
Mechanical Maintenance Operations and related facilities presently
located on Alton Road, the following described parcel of land
situate, lying and being in the City of Miami Beach, Dade County,
Florida, to wit:
That certain parcel of land comprising approxi-
mately 2 . 16 acres, commonly known as the Belcher
Oil Company Property, on MacArthur Causeway, and
more particularly described by metes and bounds
as set forth in that certain Deed Book 1509-81 •
as recorded in the Public Records of Dade County,
Florida, and as further described in the sketch .
attached hereto and made a part hereof;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it is necessary that the fee
simple title to the above described property be acquired for use for
the purposes hereinabove described, for the benefit of the City and
its inhabitants, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Attorney be and he is hereby
authorized and directed to institute the necessary legal proceedings
in the name of said City in the exercise of its right of eminent
domain for the condemnation of said parcel for the purpose herein-
above set forth; provided that nothing herein contained shall be
deemed or construed to prevent the acquisition of said parcel of
land through negotiations with the owners thereof.
