A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING COOPERATION.
OF APPROPRIATE AGENCIES OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA
AND THE COUNTY OF DADE FOR FUNDING NEONATAL
INTENSIVE CARE CENTER UNDER CHAPTER 77-171, LAWS .
OF FLORIDA, AND "THE FLORIDA HEALTH CARE RESPON-
SIBILITY ACT" , BEING CHAPTER 77-455, LAWS OF
FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Com-
? mission of the City of Miami Beach, that Mt. Sinai Hospital,
situate in the City of Miami Beach, is being severely handicapped
for lack of appropriate and adequate funding by State and County
Agencies under the provisions of Chapter 77-171, Laws of Florida,
relating to neonatal intensive care centers, and "The Florida
Health Care Responsibility Act", otherwise known as Chapter 77-455,
Laws of Florida, which provides for medical and hospitalization
assistance to indigent persons, and
WHEREAS, the lack of such required funding and financing
has caused Mt. Sinai Hospital to severely restrict and may lead to
the total elimination of the ameliorative assistance proffered and
required under such State legislation of said classes of persons,
and
WHEREAS, such limitation and possible elimination of
such hospital services has, and will continue to have, a profound
adverse effect upon the health, safety and welfare of the community
and its residents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the proper agencies of-the
State of Florida and the County of Dade be and they are hereby
respectfully requested to exert immediately all possible efforts
to provide the necessary funding for said ameliorative provisions
of said State legislation to Mt. Sinai Hospital and any other
hospital within the City of Miami ' Beach so that the objectives of
said legislation may be fully achieved and attained;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a copy of the foregoing Resolu-
tion be transmitted forthwith to the members of the State Perinatal
Advisory. Council and its program director; to the Department of
Health and Rehabilitative Services of the State of Florida; and
to Health Systems Agency of South Florida.
