A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE
PLANNED BALANCED MASS TRANSIT SYSTEM FOR DADE
COUNTY, FLORIDA.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it commends to the people of the City
of Miami Beach their favorable attention to the referendum election
to be held in Dade County, Florida, on March 7, 1978 on the issue
of balanced mass transit for Dade County, Florida, and that the
said Commission encourage the voters of Miami Beach, Florida, to
support the retention of the existing planning and implementation
of said rapid transit system, provided, however, that said rapid
transit system shall not include an elevated or steel-wheeled.
phase or element of said County-wide rapid transit system in the
City of Miami Beach, but shall integrate, improve and expand our
' Miami Beach public transit capacity by the use of soft-wheeled
transit vehicles with sheltered public waiting areas and rapid
and efficient public transportation.
