A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH PROTESTING INADEQUACIES
AND GRAVE DEFICIENCIES OF EXISTING METRO-
POLITAN TRANSIT COMPANY BUS FACILITIES AND
OFFICIALLY REQUESTING SUBSTANTIAL AND IMME-
DIATE IMPROVEMENT IN EXISTING SERVICES .
WHEREAS, numerous and highly vocal complaints by citizens
and residents of Miami Beach concerning the total inadequacy and
incredible deficiency of existing bus service by Metropolitan,
Transit Company have been addressed to the City Commission of
Miami Beach, as well as to the individual members thereof, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, has attempted, in vain, to reply to said incessant and
vigorous complaints of said citizens that it, the City Commission
of the City of Miami Beach, is powerless in the premises, since
Metropolitan Transit Company is a wholly autonomous agency and not
subject in any manner or any degree to any guidance or control by
' the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, but
WHEREAS, insistent demands have been made upon the City
Commission of the City of Miami Beach for the adoption of an
official resolution by the City Commission to be addressed to the
proper officials of the Metropolitan Transit Company, the Metro-
politan Dade County Commission and its County Manager protesting
the total insufficiency and inadequacy of bus service afforded to
the residents of the City of Miami Beach by Metropolitan Transit
Company and that the City Commission lend the aid of its official
voice for the alleviation and amelioration of the present state of
deplorable bus service afforded to the citizens and residents ,of
the City of Miami Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Metropolitan Transit
Company, the Metropolitan Dade County Commission and its County
Manager be and they are hereby officially advised and informed by
the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach that the residents
and citizens of Miami Beach are bitterly deploring and are deeply
discontented, if not incensed, with the grave deficiencies and the
services and equipment afforded them by Metropolitan Transit
Company, and that Metropolitan Transit Company, Metropolitan Dade
County Commission and the County Manager would be well advised to
take immediate and imperative action to improve the service, the
time schedules and equipment of said transit system, so as to
demonstrate some degree of official responsiveness to legitimate
and well-founded complaints of its citizens.
