A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT
WITH METROPOLITAN MUSEUM & ART CENTERS, FOR THE
LEASING OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTY AT 4221 PINE TREE
DRIVE TO SAID METROPOLITAN MUSEUM & ART CENTERS
FOR USE THEREOF AS ART MUSEUM, VISUAL ARTS
EDUCATION CENTER AND SCULPTURE GARDEN.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is presently the owner of
the property located at 4221 Pine Tree Drive, Miami Beach, Florida,
and
WHEREAS, Metropolitan Museum & Art Centers, a non-profit
and tax-exempt corporation, desires to serve the Miami Beach com-
munity in the visual arts and to provide a cultural resource for
Miami Beach residents and visitors, and
WHEREAS, Metropolitan Museum & Arts Centers desires to
lease said property, opening the Metropolitan Museum and Art Centers,
Miami Beach Center, thereon, and
WHEREAS, the City will provide the property to the Museum
in sound structural and mechanical condition, providing reasonable
renovations to the exterior and interior so that the property can
function adequately as a museum and visual arts education center,
and providing that the total cost to the City for the renovations
and repairs will not exceed $24, 000, and
WHEREAS, an appropriate agreement has been prepared and
approved by the City Attorney as to legal form and sufficiency, a :
copy of said agreement being attached hereto and made a part hereof;
and the City Manager has recommended that said agreement be entered
into, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach,
being familiar with the terms and provisions of said agreement,
deems it to be in the best interests of the City and its citizens
and residents, to enter into said agreement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Clerk
be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute said
agreement for and on behalf of said City; and that the financial
officers of the City be and they are hereby authorized and directed
to dispurse the monies called for in said agreement.
