Resolution 78-15736 RESOLUTION NO. 78-15736 A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE CERTIFICATE OF THE CANVASSING COMMITTEE AS TO THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON OCTOBER 5, 1978; DE- CLARING RESULTS THEREOF. WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, the Certificate of two members of said City Commission and the City Clerk as the Canvassing Committee of said City Commission as to the results of the canvass of the returns of the Special Election held in said City on October 5, 1978, (attached hereto and made a part hereof) and; WHEREAS, the said Canvassing Committee has duly canvassed said returns and certified the returns of said Special Election; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it hereby adopts the said Certificate as to the result of said Special Election and it is hereby ordered that the Certificate and this Resolution be recorded in the minutes of this meeting as a permanent record of the results of said Special Election; AND IT IS FURTHER FOUND, DETERMINED AND RESOLVED that QUESTION NO. 1 and QJESTION NO. 2 WERE APPROVED. PASSED and ADOPTED this 18th day of October, 1978. Mayor ATTEST: City 1 ( • STATE OF FLORIDA COUNTY OF DADE: We, the undersigned two members of the City Commission and the City Clerk of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, do hereby certify that we have made a canvass of the returns of the Special Election held in Miami Beach, Florida, on Thursday, October 5, 1978, as conducted by the Clerks and Inspectors who were duly appointed by the Metropolitan Dade County Commission; and as reflected by the certification received from the Supervisor of Elections of Metropolitan Dade County, Florida; such canvass having been made solely, exclusively and entirely from such returns and certification; and DO HEREBY CERTIFY that as a result of said canvass, we • have found and DO HEREBY DECLARE the results of said election to be as follows: THAT there was a total of 20,098 votes cast. THAT: UPON THE QUESTION: SHALL THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS BE APPROVED OR REJECTED? That Upon Bond Question No. 1: Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the amount of $2,500,000, with interest at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding seven and one-half percent (7-1/2%) per annum, for the payment of all or a part of which a special annual tax shall be levied, the amount of which levy will be reduced by the collection from special improvement assess- ments made against abutting property, as authorized by law, for the purpose of paving, sidewalks, curb and gutter, storm sewer, lighting, landscaping, canopy structures, bus shelters, signage, ornamental structures, and other structures on public right-of-way, and acquisition of land required for the plan for reconstruction of the following area: Arthur Godfrey Road from Biscayne Bay to the Atlantic Ocean; Indian Creek Drive from 39th Street to 44th Street; Collins Avenue from 44th Street to 46th street? 5,516 votes were cast FOR THE BONDS. ( 4,655 votes were cast AGAINST THE BONDS. That upon Bond Question No. 2: Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue Parking Revenue bonds in the amount of $6,000,000, with interest at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding ten percent (10%) per annum, the maximum permitted by law, for the purpose of paying the cost of acquiring additional authomobile parking • facilities and of equipping and improving parking facilities for the City of Miami Beach (automobile parking facilities being defined as any lot or lots, buildings and structures, above, at, or below the surface of the street or earth, either on the street or off the street, or both, including parking meters, equipment, entrances, exits, fencing, and all other accessories necessary or desirable for the regulation, control, and the parking of vehicles either on the street or off the street) , for the following' designated areas, but not limited thereto: Arthur Godfrey Road Business District; Lincoln Road Mall; Washington Avenue Commercial Area; Collins Avenue Area? -1- Said bonds shall be secured by the pledge of and payable solely from the net revenues of any one or more, or any combination of the City's auto- mobile parking facilities. 5,194 votes were cast FOR THE BONDS. 4,778 votes were cast AGAINST THE BONDS.
