A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING
THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION OF THE
STATE OF FLORIDA TO TAKE EMERGENCY ACTION
WITH RESPECT TO THE SAFETY OF A PORTION OF
STATE PRIMARY ROAD AlA SOUTHBOUND WITHIN
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.
WHEREAS, State Primary Road AlA, southbound, (Section 87060)
' runs through a portion of the City of Miami Beach, said road lying
along the easterly bank of Indian Creek, south of Arthur Godfrey
Road; and •
•
WHEREAS, over the years there have been a number of incidents
wherein automobiles have gone over the curb and into Indian Creek;
and
WHEREAS, there is an absence of any restraining device between
Indian Creek and. said State Road AlA in the above-described section;
and
WHEREAS, a restraining device along said road might have
prevented one or more of these incidents, the last of said incidents
having occurred as recently as January 10 , 1979 ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Department of Transportation
of the State of Florida, be and they are hereby requested and urged
to take emergency action to place an appropriate temporary and/or
permanent safety barrier between said section of State Primary
Road AlA and Indian Creek; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and she is hereby
directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to the District
Engineer of the Department of Transportation of the State of Florida.
