A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, FOR THE MEMORIALIZATION OF
THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION TO CONSIDER SCHEDULING
A SERIES OF RATE HEARINGS IN DADE COUNTY FOR THE
PURPOSE OF TAKING TESTIMONY RELATIVE TO A VARIETY
OF ISSUES AFFECTING SOUTHERN BELL TELEPHONE AND
TELEGRAPH COMPANY.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, deems it necessary to have any future telephone rate
hearings held in Dade County, for the purpose of addressing a
variety of issues that affect the citizens of this community; and
WHEREAS, the Public Service Commission approved tariffs
of Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company which enabled it
to accumulate profits in excess of Forty-Four Million Dollars above
its maximum authorized rate of return for the calendar year 1978; and
WHEREAS, new types of Measured Sensitive Pricing are
being offered by Southern Bell on an optional experimental basis
for consideration of the Commission within' the next two years;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Public Service Commis-
sion be and is hereby petitioned and memorialized to consider
scheduling hearings in Dade County, Florida for any future telephone
general rate case of Southern Bell; and
BE IT FURTHER .RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a copy of this Resolution be trans-
mitted to the members of the Public Service Commission of the State
of Florida.
