A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, RATIFYING THE NEGOTIATED
SETTLEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AND
THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE, LODGE NO. 8
REGARDING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A TIME BANK.
WHEREAS, the contract now in effect between the City of
Miami Beach and the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge No. 8 contains
a provision in Article XII which provides as follows :
"The parties agree that this agreement shall be
reopened to add a provision respecting the estab-
lishment of a Time Bank at no cost to the City
other than possible incidental administrative
costs, so that members of the bargaining unit may
donate time to be used by the FOP President or
his designees for FOP business. The parties agree
to promptly negotiate the amendment to this agree-
ment establishing a Time Bank" ; and
WHEREAS, the contract containing this provision was ratified
by the Fraternal Order of Police and the City of Miami Beach Commis-
. sion and executed by the parties on June 12, 1978; and
WHEREAS, the parties have reached an agreement as to the
establishment of a Time Bank pursuant to Article XII of the Fraternal
Order of Police contract; and the City Attorney has approved the •
amendment to the agreement as to legal form and sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended to the City
Commission that said agreement be entered into; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission deems it to be in the best
interest of the City and its residents and citizens that said agree-
ment be entered into; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of a Time Bank will result in
no costs to the City of Miami Beach other than incidental administra-
tive cost;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the negotiated settlement
be approved and ratified as an amendment to the agreement between
the City of Miami Beach, Florida and the Fraternal Order of Police,
Lodge No. 8 .
