A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CALLING UPON THE LEGIS-
LATURE OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA TO REPEAL LEGIS-
LATION WHICH PROHIBITS• MUNICIPALITIES FROM
IMPOSING ,RENT CONTROL.
WHEREAS, there are a large number of persons living
within the City of Miami Beach on fixed incomes who are parti-
cularly sensitive to the affects of inflation in general and
unconscionable and extraordinarily large increases in rent;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Dade County Delegation
to the Florida State Legislature be memorialized to take the neces-
sary action to repeal legislation which restricts municipalities
from imposing. rent control;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a copy of this Resolution be
transmitted to each member of the Dade County Delegation to the
Florida Legislature, to the Speaker of the House of Representatives
and to the President of the Senate of the State of Florida.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 5th day of September, 1979 .
