A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXTENSION OF LEASE
AGREEMENT WITH MIAMI BEACH POLICE ATHLETIC
LEAGUE, INC. FOR AN ADDITIONAL TEN YEARS
COMMENCING FEBRUARY 21, 1978 .
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach entered into a lease
agreement with Miami Beach Police Athletic League, Inc. for use
of a parcel of land in Flamingo Park for the benefit of the youth
of the community and to enable our youth to participate in health-
ful sport and recreational activity, for a term of five years, as
authorized by Resolution No. 73-13924 , passed and adopted on
February 21, 1973; and
WHEREAS, the said lease agreement will expire on February
21, 1978, and the Miami Beach Police Athletic League, Inc. has
requested an extension of said agreement for a period of ten
years; and
WHEREAS, in addition to said request for extension of
said lease, the Miami Beach Police Athletic League, Inc. has also
requested approval for the construction of an extension to its
existing building on said parcel of land in Flamingo Park, subject
to plans meeting all applicable Code regulations; and
WHEREAS, an appropriate amendment to the said lease
agreement has been prepared by the City Attorney, the terms and
provisions of which are familiar to the City Commission, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the
best interest of the City to renew said lease agreement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the existing lease
agreement between the City of Miami Beach and Miami Beach Police
Athletic League, Inc. be amended by extending said agreement from
its present expiration date, February 21, 1978 , for a period of
ten years so that the same will expire on February 21, 1988 and
that preliminary approval is hereby granted for the construction
of an extension to the existing building on the said parcel of
land, subject to plans meeting all applicable Code regulations;
all other terms of said agreement shall remain the same;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the City Clerk be
and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver
said amendment to the lease agreement in the name of and on behalf
of the City of Miami Beach.
