'ON NOI,LflIOSaH STATE OF FLORIDA COUNTY OF DADE: We, the undersigned two members of the City Council and the City Clerk of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, do hereby certify that we have made a canvass of the returns of the General and Special Elections held in Miami Beach, Florida, on November 1, 1977, as conducted by the Clerks and Inspectors who were duly appointed by the Metropolitan Dade County Commission; and as reflected by the certification received from the Supervisor of Elections of Dade County, Florida; such canvass having been made solely, exclusively and entirely from such returns and certification; and DO HEREBY CERTIFY that as a result of said canvass, we have found and DO HEREBY DECLARE the results of said elections to be as follows: THAT there was a total of 24,630 votes cast. THAT: FOR MAYOR 18,718 votes were cast for DR. LEONARD HABER 3,243 votes were cast for DR. MORRIS ZU KER FOR COUNCILMAN, GROUP I 8,477 votes were cast for STANLEY K. SHAPIRO 12,204 votes were cast for DR. SIMON WIKLER FOR COUNCILMAN, GROUP II 4,263 votes were cast for NINA HERBERT 7,952 votes were cast for PHILIP SAHL 5,614 votes were cast for MICHAEL "MIKE" SOSSIN FOR COUNCILMAN, GROUP III 9,742 votes were cast for MURRAY MEYERSON 10,888 votes were cast for ELAYNE WEISBURD -1- FOR COUNCILMAN, GROUP IV 3,047 votes were cast for MURRAY GOLD 5,530 votes were cast for_ JOE MALEK 5,286 votes were cast for BOB "BIG DADDY" NAPP 2,596 votes were cast for TERRENCE E. That upon Question No. 1 (Charter Amendment) SHALL the Charter of the City of Miami Beach be amended so as to delete therefrom that provision therein passed and adopted by the electorate at a special election held on March 8, 1977, and which provides as follows: THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH SHALL HAVE POWER TO ISSUE A SERIES OF MUNICIPAL BONDS IN EXCESS OF $250,000.00 AND MUNICIPAL BONDS THE PROCEEDS OF WHICH WILL FINANCE ANY PROJECT WHOSE TOTAL COST WILL BE IN EXCESS OF $250,000.00 ONLY AFTER SUCH MUNICIPAL BONDS SHALL HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY A MAJORITY OF THE VOTES CAST IN AN ELECTION IN WHICH THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH SHALL PARTICIPATTE, SUCH ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE MANNER PRESCRIBED BY ORDINANCE. THIS PROVISION SHALL APPLY TO BONDS ISSUED BY THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, ITS AGENCIES OR SUBDIVISIONS, INCLUDING MUNICIPAL AUTHORITIES, THIS SECTION SHALL ALSO APPLY WHETHER SUCH BONDS ARE TO BE PAYABLE FROM THE AD VALOREM TAXATION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, THE GENERAL REVENUES OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, OR FROM THE REVENUES OF ANY PARTICULAR PROJECT? 4,706 votes were cast FOR THE AMENDMENT. 7,942 votes were cast AGAINST THE AMENDMENT. -2- QUESTION NO. 2 (Charter Amendment) SHALL the Charter of the City of Miami Beach be amended so that all references to the City Council and Councilmen of the City of Miami Beach shall be deleted therefrom and that the City Council and Council- men thereof shall henceforth be known as the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, and City Commissioners? 5,406 votes were cast FOR THE AMENDMENT. 4,938 votes were cast AGAINST THE AMENDMENT. QUESTION NO. 3 (Bonds) SHALL the City of Miami Beach issue negotiable coupon bonds in the amount of $1,700,000.00 Excise Tax Bond, Series 1975, with interest at a rate to be hereafter determined, but not to exceed 7-1/2% per annum, in accordance with the terms and provisions of Resolution No. 76-14942 passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Miami Reach., which Resolution is on file in the office of the City Clerk and which is entitled as follows; A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 75-14825A SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $1,700,000 EXCISE TAX BONDS, SERIES 1975, AND TO LIMIT THE PURPOSES OF SAID ISSUE OF $1,700,000 BONDS TO EXTENSIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS TO THE THEATER OF THE PERFORMING ARTS, AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE SALE, SECURITY AND PAYMENT OF SAID ISSUE OF $1,700,000 OF EXCISE TAX BONDS AND PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT THERE- OF, AND MAKING CERTAIN COVENANTS AND AGREEMENTS IN THAT CONNECTION? 4,480 votes were cast FOR THE RESOLUTION. 6,569 votes were cast AGAINST THE RESOLUTION.
