Resolution 79-16060 RESOLUTION NO. 79-16060 A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE CERTIFICATE OF THE CANVASSING COMMITTEE AS TO THE RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 6, 1979 GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTIONS; DECLARING RESULTS THEREOF. WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, Florida the Certificate of two members of said City Commission and the City Clerk as the Canvassing Committee of said City Commission as to the results of the canvass of the returns of the General and Special Elections held in said City on November 6, 1979, and WHEREAS, the said Canvassing Committee has duly canvassed said returns and certified the returns of said Elections; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it hereby adopts the said Certificate as to the results of said Elections and it is hereby ordered that the same Certificate and this Resolution be recorded in the minutes of this meeting as a permanent record of the results of said Elections; AND IT IS FURTHER FOUND, DETERMINED AND RESOLVED that the following candidates for Mayor and City Commissioner, Groups I, II, III, IV, V, and VI received the highest number of votes cast, and are hereby declared ELECTED: FQR MAYOR MURRAY MEYERSON FOR CITY COMMISSIONER, GROUP I DR. SIMON WIKLER FOR CITY COMMISSIONER, GROUP II MILDRED S. FALK FOR CITY COMMISSIONER, GROUP III MEL MENDELSON FOR CITY COMMISSIONER, GROUP IV ALEX DAOUD FOR CITY COMMISSIONER, GROUP V MICHAEL FRIEDMAN FOR CITY COMMISSIONER, CROUP VI LEONARD 0. WEINSTEIN AND IT IS FURTHER FOUND, DETERMINED AND RESOLVED THAT QUESTIONS 1 and 2 WERE APPROVED. PASSED and ADOPTED this 7th day of November, 1979. THAT: FOR MAYOR 10,143 votes were cast for DR. LEONARD HABER 12,862 votes were cast for MURRAY MEYERSON 513 votes were cast for DR, MORRIS ZUCKER FOR COMMISSIONER, GROUP I 13,855 votes were cast for DR. SIMON WIKLER FOR COMMISSIONER, GROUP II 8,661 votes were cast for HARRY BERNARD 11,142 votes were cast for MILDRED S. FALK FOR COMMISSIONER, GROUP III 13,283 votes were cast for MEL MENDELSON 7,915 votes were cast for ELAYNE WEISBURD FOR COMMISSIONER, GROUP IV 15,684 votes were cast for ALEX DAOUD 5,344 votes were cast for JOE MALEK FOR COMMISSIONER, GROUP V 11,596 votes were cast for MICHAEL FRIEDMAN 8,448 votes were cast for "BIG DADDY" NAPP FOR COMMISSIONER, GROUP VI 13,152 votes were cast for LEONARD 0. That upon Question No, 1 Shall the measure known as Ordinance No. 79-2172 passed and adopted on its second and final reading on the 19th day of September, 1979, and entitled: "AN ORDINANCE AWARDING A NON-EXCLUSIVE CATV LICENSE TO ULTRACOI1 OF DADE COUNTY, INC„ FOR A PERIOD OF 15 YEARS WITH A 10 YEAR EXTENSION OPTION SUBJECT TO APPROVAL OF THE ELECTORATE," be approved or disapproved? 7,554 votes were cast FOR THE MEASURE 5,097 votes were cast AGAINST THE MEASURE That upon Question No, 2 Shall the following additional alternative purposes: Construction of new, or improvement of existing, handball courts, golf courses, club houses, parks, community centers and other recreational facilities; improvements to the City's libraries, museum and Garden Center; improvements to the City's Police, Fire and Sanitation facilities and capital equipment; construction and improvements to the City's streets and sewers; and improvements and additions to the City's public beach and park facilities, be approved for the unexpended proceeds of the City's Waste Facility Bonds (the unexpended bond proceeds are $2,414,919) , Biscayne Bay Public Park Acquisition Bonds (the unexpended bond proceeds are $384,622) , and 1973 Park and Recreational Land Bonds (the unexpended bond proceeds are $1,419,996) , and the purpose for which the City's 1972 Oceanfront Park Bonds (originally authorized in the amount of $1,500,000.00) are authorized to be issued be amended to include the additional purpose of acquiring and improving oceanfront property for park purposes? 8,882 votes were cast FOR THE MEASURE 4,311 votes were cast AGAINST THE MEASURE WITNESS our hands and seal this 7th day of November, 1979.
