A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH URGING THE UNITED STATES
CONGRESS TO ENACT INTO LAW A BILL ENTITLED
THE CONDOMINIUM-COOPERATIVE CONVERSION MORA-
TORIUM ACT OF 1979.
WHEREAS, the Honorable Member of the House of Repre-
sentatives, Benjamin S. Rosenthal of New York has recently
introduced in the House of Representatives a Bill called the
Condominium-Cooperative Moratorium Act of 1979 which restricts
the conversion of rental housing to condominium; and
WHEREAS, said Act would have a beneficial impact upon
residents of the City of Miami Beach by restricting conversion
of rental housing to condominium and requiring developers to
provide relocation assistance to tenants displaced by conversions ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the House of Represen-
tatives and Senate of the United States of America be and they
are hereby implored and urged to adopt said legislation with the
exception of that portion relating to Community Development Block
Grants; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk be and she is
hereby authorized and directed to furnish a copy of this Resolution
to each Member of the Florida Delegation to the House of Represen-
tatives and the Senate of the United States of America.
