A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE RE-NAMING OF JACKIE GLEASON
DRIVE TO FESTIVAL DRIVE FOR A PERIOD NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY
DAYS, SAID PERIOD TO RUN PRIOR TO AND INCLUDE THE DATES
OF THE 1980 MIAMI BEACH FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS , FEBRUARY 9
AND 10 , 1980; PROVIDING THAT THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY BE
DECLARED FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS MONTH.
WHEREAS, the Fine Arts Board provides countless hours of
service that directly benefits the citizens and business community
of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS , the 1980 Miami Beach Festival of the Arts will
be held on Jackie Gleason Drive on February 9 and 10 , 1980; and
WHEREAS, the Festival of the Arts is a cultural arts
program of major proportion, providing thousands of citizens and
tourists with art, music and fine foods;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that Jackie Gleason Drive, being
the same street located east of the Convention Center, be re-named
Festival Drive for the period of January 12 , 1980 , up to and
including the dates of the Festival, February 9 and 10 , 1980.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the month of February be declared
"Festival of the Arts" month.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 2nd day of January , 1980.
