A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH,AMENDING RESOLUTION 2018-30651,SETTING THE
DATES FOR THE YEAR 2019 CITY COMMISSION MEETINGS;ADDING A
SPECIAL COMMISSION MEETING FOR JULY 31,2019 AT 11:00 A.M.TO
HEAR BUDGET ITEMS ADOPTING THE MAXIMUM MILLAGE RATES.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2.04 of the Miami Beach City Charter,the City Commission
shall meet at such times as may be prescribed by ordinance or resolution; and
WHEREAS, In order to make the City Commission meetings more efficient and prevent
residents from spending multiple hours waiting for a time certain item to be heard, it was proposed in
2013 that presentations and awards only meetings be scheduled at different times throughout the
year; and
WHEREAS, by placing the Presentations and Awards portion of City Commission meetings
on the alternate meeting date, it is anticipated that the regular City Commission meetings will start
on time, which will increase the likelihood that time certain agenda items are heard at their
scheduled times, or closely thereafter; and
WHEREAS, if needed, the separate City Commission meeting date for Presentations and
Awards may also be utilized for items that are deemed emergencies and/or continued or not
reached during the regular City Commission meeting; and
WHEREAS, a Special City Commission meeting to adopt the maximum millage rates is
being requested for July 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., following the 8:00 a.m. Finance and Citywide
Projects Committee meeting.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby set a
Special Commission Meeting for July 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. to hear budget items adopting the
Maximum Millage Rates. (See Exhibit"A")

SUBJECT: FY 2019/20 Budget Development eeting Dates
The purpose of this Letter to Commissipn is to outline the upcoming meeting dates related to the
development of the FY 2019/20 Operating and Capital Budgets.
The FY 2019/20 budget discussion will commence with a Commission Budget Workshop on May
17th, where the Administration will provide and overview of the upcoming budget process and a
preview of discussion items which will be further discussed during the summer.
Each year, the Administration provides budget briefings at a series of Finance and Citywide
Projects Committee (FCWPC) meetings commencing in the summer. Please note that the full
City Commission is invited to each of these budget briefings. Attendance is highly recommended.
This year's briefings will be held on June 14th, July 19th, July 26th and July 31St (if needed).
The FCWPC provides recommendations, which inform the final proposed budgets and millage
rates. The proposed maximum millage rates will be adopted at the special City Commission
meeting on July 31St at 11 am.
The first Public Hearing to adopt the proposed millage rates and budgets will be held on
September 11th, and the second Public Hearing to adopt the final adopted millage rates and
budgets will be held on September 25th. The table below further outlines these dates for ease
of reference.
