RESOLUTION NO. 80-16231
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING ITS APPRECIATION
AND GRATITUDE AND THAT OF THE CITIZENS AND RESIDENTS
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH FOR THE EXEMPLARY PUBLIC
SERVICE OF PEGGY MacKAY, FORMER SECRETARY TO THE
MAYOR; AUTHORIZING THE CREATION OF A FOUNTAIN IN
TRIBUTE TO PEGGY MacKAY; AND AUTHORIZING THE CREATION
OF THE "CITY OF MIAMI BEACH PEGGY MacKAY FOUNTAIN
COMMITTEE " .
WHEREAS , the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, each member thereof, for itself and on behalf of the
citizens and residents of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, are
profoundly and immeasurably appreciative and grateful for the
dedication, loyalty, and gracious charm exhibited in her performance
of the duties and responsibilities of Secretary to the Mayor of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida; and
WHEREAS , Peggy MacKay, former Secretary to the Mayor, has
served the City of Miami Beach, its citizens and residents, for
forty-four years as Secretary to the Mayor; and
WHEREAS, her loving dedication to her work, her complete
loyalty to the City and those past Mayors that she served, her
gracious charm that she extended to everyone who approached the
Mayor or the City and made her one of the finest public relations
persons the City has ever been blessed with over the years by her
creation of good will for our City,will be her monument for count-
less years to come;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a certified copy of this
resolution be presented to the said Peggy MacKay, as evidence of
its beliefs and sentiments as hereinabove expressed;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a fountain be built in the entrance
to the City of Miami Beach Garden Center and Conservatory as an
expression of love and appreciation and in tribute to Peggy MacKay
for her work and selfless service to the City of Miami Beach; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Commission authorizes the
creation of an ad hoc committee for the direction of the completion
of the Peggy MacKay Fountain. Said committee shall be designated
as the "City of Miami Beach Peggy MacKay Fountain Committee. "
