A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE MIAMI BEACH
PUBLIC LIBRARY TO THE STATE OF FLORIDA, STATE LIBRARY,
FOR A PLANNING GRANT FOR THE MIAMI BEACH PUBLIC LIBRARY
SYSTEM.
WHEREAS , the City Commission recognizes that the Miami Beach
Public Library is an important and necessary community service; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission acknowledges that the library sys-
tem is currently experiencing certain operational difficulties resulting
from decreased appropriations and revenues; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach Administration has requested
the City Commission to authorize the submission of a grant application on
behalf of the Miami Beach Public Library to the Florida State Library for
a $3, 000 Library Planning Grant; and
WHEREAS, the planning grant will assess the existing library
system and projected needs for the next five years;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Manager be and he is hereby
authorized, directed and empowered as the designated official of the
City of Miami Beach, to make application to the State of Florida, State
Library for a Library Planning Grant, as hereinabove set forth for and
on behalf of the City of Miami Beach Public Library, in connection with
all matters pertaining to this application and any grant contract that
may be executed and entered pursuant hereto.
