A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF POWER COST AND MAINTENANCE
OF STREET LIGHTS INSTALLED ON MIAMI BEACH
UNDER THE METRO DADE COUNTY DECADE OF PROGRESS
BOND PROGRAM.
WHEREAS , for the reasons more particularly set
forth in Commission Memorandum No. 8288 , the City Commission
of the City of Miami Beach finds it in the best interest of
the City to accept the responsibility for the cost of energy
and maintenance of the street lights installed on Miami
Beach under the Metro Dade County Decade of Progress Bond
Program;
WHEREAS , the City Manager recommends the City
accept the responsibility for the cost of energy and
maintenance of the above-referenced street lights , and the
City Attorney has approved same as to legality;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the
disbursing officers of the City are hereby authorized and
directed to disburse the necessary funds as hereinafter
directed by the City Manager.

SUBJECT: Acceptance of Power Cost and Maintenance of Streetlights
Installed on Miami Beach under the Metro Dade County
Decade of Progress Bond Program
Metro Dade County has completed construction plans and is taking bids
for upgrading streetlights in Miami Beach on Lake View Drive from Alton
Road to 51st Street ; on 51st Street from Alton Road to Pine Tree Drive;
on North Bay Road from Alton Road to 48th Street;and on North Bay Road
from Alton Road to Pine Tree Drive as shown on the attached map.
These whiteway improvements , which are part of the City's replacement
program that is being funded by Metro Dade County's Decade of Progress
Bonds, are located on streets that are functionally classified as
local municipal streets and would remain under the jurisdiction of
the City. After the new streetlights have been installed the City
would be responsible for the cost of energy and maintenance. Before
the County will award a contract for construction scheduled for July 1,
1980, the City must , by resolution, accept the responsibility for cost
of energy and maintenance.
The Administration recommends that Commission adopt the attached
resolution accepting the responsibility for the cost of energy and
maintenance of these streetlights .
