SUBJECT: MBPD Police Chaplain Swearing n Ceremony
This Letter to the Mayor and City Commission is to extend an invitation to the Miami
Beach Police Department's Swearing in Ceremony for the MBPD Police Chaplains. This
will occur on April 18th at 11:00 a.m. in the Major James Smith Community Room.
The Police Chaplain Program creates a partnership with various faith based leaders of
our community and provides emotional and spiritual support during times of crisis. The
Police Chaplains are available to both members of the Police Department and victims of
traumatic events. They have responded to countless critical incidents to provide
appropriate assistance, advice, comfort, counsel, and referrals to those in need.
While the Police Department Chaplain Program has been in existence for many years,
they have never formally been sworn in. Therefore, the Police Department would like to
recognize their many years of dedicated service by officially "Swearing" them in as
members of the Miami Beach Police Department.
