Resolution 80-16390 RESOLUTION NO. 80-16390 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ADVISING THE DADE COUNTY COMMISSION OF ITS DESIRE NOT TO BE IN- CLUDED IN A FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE DISTRICT AS ESTABLISHED BY COUNTY ORDINANCE NO. 80-86. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach now provides their own fire and rescue service within its municipal boundaries ; and WHEREAS, on September 2, 1980, the Dade County Commission passed and adopted Ordinance No. 80-86, establishing a fire and rescue services district which would only become effective if approved by a majority of the registered voters of Dade County voting thereon in a special election held on September 9, 1980; and WHEREAS, the electorate overwhelmingly approved the creation of a fire and rescue services district as provided for in County Ordinance No. 80-86 ; and WHEREAS, Section 18-29 of said County Code provides that "any municipality may provide an alternate means of delivering fire and rescue services within the municipality. " ; and WHEREAS, Section 18-29 of said County Code further pro- vides that municipal action under Section 18-29 of said County Ordinance shall remove the municipality from the District; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COM- MISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Dade County Board of County Commissioners be advised that the City of Miami Beach does not choose to become part of the County-wide fire service district.
