Resolution 80-16415 RESOLUTION NO. 80-16415 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING THE SCHOOL BOARD OF DADE COUNTY TO UTILIZE SOUTH SHORE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN THE DISTRIBUTION OF SOCIAL SERVICES TO RECENT EMIGRES, WHILE PRESERVING THE ESSENTIAL EDUCATIONAL FACILITY AFFORDED BY IDA M. FISHER JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL. WHEREAS, south Miami Beach has been inundated by the influx of recent emigres , dependent upon both social services and the public coffers; and WHEREAS, the need for such services can neither supersede nor impede the education of the youth of this community; and WHEREAS, Ida M. Fisher Junior High School serves the vital interests of this community in the education of its youth; and WHEREAS , the elementary and secondary academic and educational facility at Ida M. Fisher Junior High School is an incompatible and inappropriate environment for the distribution of adult social services ; and WHEREAS, South Shore Elementary School, vacant and unoccupied, affords a physical facility for the distribution of food stamps and other social services without sacrifice of essential educational facilities; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the School Board of Dade County afford the use of South Shore Elementary School for the distribution of adult social services and preserve Ida M. Fisher Junior High School as an essential educational facility.
