SUBJECT: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION
TO OBTAIN FEDERAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FUNDS
During the months of April , May and June of this year the
City incurred costs for the initial Cuban/Haitian refugee
program. The Administration documented these costs and
applied to the Bureau of Disaster Preparedness of the
Department of Community Affairs for the State of Florida (see
attached ) for reimbursement of approximately $ 16 ,000 .
We have been recently informed that in order to officially
apply for the reimbursement of these costs a resolution must
be adopted by the City Commission . The attached resolution
will be the City ' s official application to file for federal
financial assistance under the Disaster Relief Act (Public
Law 288 , 93rd Congress ) or from the President ' s Disaster
Relief Funds.
This application for reimbursement is not at all related to
the City ' s subsequent request for reimbursement from the 100
million dollar refugee reimbursement package that was just
recently signed into law by the President.

Refugee Program.
The attached worksheets reflect a line item delineation of
the expenses 'incurred from April 12, 1980 to the present
time frame.
