Resolution 81-16550 •V RESOLUTION NO. 81-16550 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT WITH ALEXANDER GRANT AND COMPANY FOR THE RETIREMENT SYSTEM FOR GENERAL EMPLOYEES AND ELECTED OFFICIALS AUDIT FOR THE PERIOD OF JANUARY 1 , 1980 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 1980 AT A FEE OF $9,500.00 WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach desires to enter into an appropriate agreement with Alexander Grant and Company for the audit of the Retirement System for General Employees and Elected Officials for the period of January 1, 1980 to September 30, 1980, all as set forth in Commission Memorandum No. 8789 dated February 4, 1981 ; and WHEREAS, the City Administration has recommended that the proposal as submitted by Alexander Grant and Company in a communication dated January 16, 1981, addressed to the Trustees of the Retirement System for General Employees and Elected Officials of the City of Miami Beach, be accepted, said proposal being attached hereto and made a part thereof by reference; and WHEREAS, Alexander Grant and Company has proposed a fee in the amount of $9,500.00 for the audit period of January 1, 1980 to September 30, 1980; and WHEREAS, the City Attorney has approved the proposal letter as to form, and the City Manager has recommended that the City Commission accept said proposal letter and authorize entry into same; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach is familiar with the provisions of said proposal letter; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Commission hereby approves the proposal and that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute same on behalf of the City; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the dispersing officers of the City be and they are hereby authorized and directed to pay out such sums of money as the City is obligated to pay out under the terms of said proposal from the funds of the City available for such purpose. The Pension Board received and reviewed audit proposals and heard presentations from six C.P.A. firms. The Pension Board selected Alexander Grant's proposal to be the most appropriate. The prior year's audit was performed by Rachlin and Cohen, C.P.A. 's ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION The City Administration concurs with the Pension Board's recom- mendation that the contract for the certified audit of the Retire- ment System for General Employees and Elected Officials for the period January 1, 1980 through September 30, 1980 be awarded to the firm of Alexander Grant and Company for the negotiated fee of $9,500.00.
