RESOLUTION NO. 81-16590
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
AND ESTABLISHING A GOLF MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM
AT BAYSHORE AND NORMANDY ISLE GOLF COURSES
FOR GUESTS OF PARTICIPATING HOTELS .
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach, Sun and Fun Capital
of the World, affords year-round enjoyment of its many outdoor
attractions and facilities; and
WHEREAS , this City' s golf courses are among the most
beautiful in the world; and
WHEREAS, the advertisement of free golfing privileges
by participating hotels will enhance the lure of vacationing in
Miami Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it duly resolved by the City Commis-
sion of the City of Miami Beach that a Golf Membership Program for
guests of participating hotels be established subject to the re-
strictions of Commission Memorandum No. 8799 .

SUBJECT: GOLF MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM
The Administration has been asked by Miami Beach hotels to establish
a Golf Membership Program for tourists who are hotel guests. This,
in turn, would permit participating hotels to advertise free golf.
After discussion with the Golf Advisory Committee and other committees
at Bayshore and Normandy Isle Golf Courses, the Administration believes
this to be a reasonable request.
We propose that up to 100 municipal golf memberships be made available
to bonafide hotels at a cost per membership equal to that now charged
to non-residents ($420 per year plus tax) for membership.
We also recommend that in the event there is a greater demand than
the supply of such hotel memberships, the Administration be authorized
to limit the number of memberships to be issued to any one hotel . No
membership could be used by more than one player in any given 24-hour
day. These memberships would be used only by registered guests of
the hotel and not by the management, their families or friends.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends adoption of the attached resolution
establishing annual hotel golf memberships as detailed above.
