Resolution 81-16592 RESOLUTION NO. 81-16592 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH THE MIAMI BEACH PROFESSIONAL LIFEGUARD ASSOCIATION FOR THE PRODUCTION OF "LOVE ON THE BEACH" CONCERTS. WHEREAS, for the reasons more particularly set forth at the meeting of the City Commission at which this Resolution was adopted, and Commission Memorandum No. 8862 , the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach finds it in the best interest of the City to enter into an Agreement with the Miami Beach Professional Lifeguard Association; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the City Clerk be, and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute the Agreement , a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A, for and on behalf of the City of Miami Beach. DATE: 3/4/83 TO: Mayor Murray Meyerson and .i b-rs of the i , mmission .` ' 1 l ' Me_ FROM: a • d T. oa City Manager SUBJECT: "Love On the Beach" Contract It is requested that the Commission authorize the execution of an agreement between the City of Miami Beach and the Miami Beach Professional Lifeguard Association for the productionof four (4) "Love On the Beach" concerts, all of which shall be presented prior to December 31 , 1981 . The attached agreement outlining the responsibilities of the City and the Professional Lifeguard Association has been designed to insure the health and safety of both Miami Beach residents and concert patrons. On October 15, 1980, several complaints were presented to the Commission regarding the concerts. Actions have been taken to resolve these complaints as follows: Complaint Action 1 . Potential of crowd control problems The Chief of Police will indicate what level of staffing is appropiate and will provide the number of officers necessary. 2. Residents' property blocked by Residential streets where public parked cars. parking is not available will be provided with a manned barricade to prevent illegal parking. 3. Trespassing on Private Property Lifeguards and police will be assigned patrol duty in the residential areas to protect private property. 4. Too many concerts scheduled in Concerts reduced from 6 per year to the park. 4 per year. 5. Be sure sponsors are reputable. Sponsor will be Coca Cola. Any other sponsors will be checked through the Police Departmement. 6. Have sponsors pay all costs. All costs are paid by the sponsors. The cancellation clause allows the City Manager to cancel any or all concerts if he determines, for any reason, the public health, safety or welfare is endangered.
