A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE OFFICE OF THE CITY
ATTORNEY TO FILE A PETITION FOR WRIT OF MANDAMUS
TO THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO REPAIR
THE LIGHTING ON JULIA TUTTLE CAUSEWAY.
WHEREAS, the Mayor , the City Attorney and the City Manager
have repeatedly requested the Governor and the Department of Trans-
portation to repair the lighting on Julia Tuttle Causeway; and
WHEREAS, Julia Tuttle Causeway has been without illumina-
tion for months; and
WHEREAS, the absence of lighting on said Causeway endan-
gers the health, welfare and safety of the residents of and visitors
to the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation is legally obli-
gated to repair and maintain lighting on Julia Tuttle Causeway;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH that the City Attorney, with the Assistance
of the City Manager , initiate a Mandamus action seeking an order
from the Circuit Court directing the Department of Transportation to
repair the lighting on Julia Tuttle Causeway and the 41st Street
cloverleaf .
PASSED and ADOPTED this 18th day of March , 1981.
