A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH URGING THE NATIONAL SECRETARY OF
INTERIOR JAMES WATTS TO INCLUDE IN HIS BUDGET
PACKAGE TO CONGRESS THE FUNDS PREVIOUSLY
APPROPRIATED FOR THE COMPLETION OF BISCAYNE
NATIONAL PARK AND THE BIG CYPRESS NATIONAL
PRESERVE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach has previously endorsed
the purchase of land for the completion of Biscayne National Park
and the Big Cypress National Preserve; and
WHEREAS, the United States Congress has approved and the
President has signed a bill appropriating the funds for the purchase
of these lands; and
WHEREAS, the Secretary of Interior James Watts has con-
sidered deleting the money previously appropriated for the parks
from his budget of this year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Secretary of Interior
be implored and urged to include in his budget the funds previously
appropriated for the completion of Biscayne National Park and the
Big Cypress National Preserve.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 15th day of April, 1981.
