RESOLUTION NO. 81-16669
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RESPON-
SIBILITY OF POWER COST AND MAINTENANCE OF STREET
LIGHTS INSTALLED ON MIAMI BEACH UNDER THE METRO
DADE COUNTY DECADE OF PROGRESS BOND PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, for the reasons more particularly set forth in
Commission Memorandum No. 9035 , the City Commission of the City
of Miami Beach finds it in the best interest of the City to accept
the responsibility for the cost of energy and maintenance of the
street lights installed on Miami Beach under the Metro Dade County
Decade of Progress Bond Program, and
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends the City accept the
responsibility for the cost of energy and maintenance of the
above-referenced street lights, and the City Attorney has approved
same as to legality.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the disbursing officers of
the City are hereby authorized and directed to disburse the neces-
sary funds as hereinafter directed by the City Manager .

SUBJECT: Acceptance of Power Cost and Maintenance of Streetlights
Installed on Miami Beach under the Metro Dade County
Decade of Progress Bond Program
Metro Dade County has completed construction plans and is taking bids
for upgrading streetlights in Miami Beach on LaGorce Island, Pine Tree
Drive 63rd Street to LaGorce Island, LaGorce Drive from 63rd Street
to Alton Road, Pine Tree Drive Circle, West 29th Street from Alton
Road to Sunset Island No. 1, and Sunset Islands Numbers 1 and 2 as
shown on the attached map.
These whiteway improvements , which are part of the City' s replacement
and upgrading program that is being funded by Metro Dade County's
Decade of Progress Bonds , are located on streets that are functionally
classified as local municipal streets and would remain under the juris-
diction of the City. After the new streetlights have been installed
the City would be responsible for the cost of energy and maintenance.
Before the County will award a contract for construction scheduled for
July 1, 1981, the City must , by resolution, accept the responsibility
for cost of energy and maintenance.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends that Commission adopt the attached
resolution accepting the responsibility for the cost of energy and
maintenance of these streetlights .
