RESOLUTION NO. 81-16702
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY ATTORNEY
SELECTING AND HIRING SPECIAL COUNSEL FOR
COMMISSIONER MELVIN MENDELSON IN THE CIRCUIT
COURT CASE OF TAYLOR VS. MENDELSON.
WHEREAS, Commissioner Melvin Mendelson has been sued
in a Circuit Court action, Case No. 81-6741 (CA 22) , for state-
ments made in connection with the Commissioner ' s governmental
duties; and
WHEREAS, the Circuit Court entered a court order on
June 2 , 1981, requiring the City of Miami Beach to provide legal
counsel to Commissioner Melvin Mendelson;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Attorney is autho-
rized to enter into an agreement to retain the law firm of Jepeway
and Jepeway, or any other law firm, as special counsel in the case
of Lawrence F. Taylor vs. Melvin Mendelson, No. 81-6741 (CA 22) at
a reasonable fee.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 17th day of June , 1981.
